Details – This type of telescopic forklift has a sliding carriage. This means that the center section of the lift, where the boom connects, can slide forward to increase horizontal reach. Also the carriage can slide back to increase lifting capacity at greater heights. Traverse Carriage adds a significant costs to the price of a telescopic forklift and greatly limits you to the few manufactures that make these type, notably Lull. The main drawback of this feature, besides price, is that it eliminates the usage of using yard buckets or other accessories that require a rigid carriage.
Details – Standard carriage forklifts are far more common that traverse carriage. They are generally less expensive and are considered by some to be a more rugged design.
